Photograph, vintage silver print, annotated on the back. 29 x 22.5 cm. Some signs of handling and a thumbtack hole at each corner tip. Note: Inspired by the world of Beaumarchais, this portrait of Ernest Van Duren in the role of Figaro captures the full theatricality of French cinema at the end of the silent era. Curlers and a curling iron create an image full of character, a delightful evocation of the famous Barber of Seville.
