LINGERIE AND WAX FIGURINES - Lot 36
LINGERIE AND WAX FIGURINES Store window, 1940s. Photo by B.M. Bernand, vintage silver gelatin print, stamped and annotated on the back. 18 x 24 cm. Some signs of handling. Note: In this 1940s store window, lingerie and wax mannequins create a display that is both elegant and strangely theatrical. B. M. Bernand’s perspective transforms this commercial setting into a graphic image, a fascinating testament to the aesthetics of postwar fashion window displays.
