JANE BIRKIN, MODEL - II Shantug dress ensemble by Ted Lapidus, Spring 1972. Photograph, silver gelatin print on vintage card stock (large format), labeled (dated tag) on the back. 39.5 x 30 cm. Photograph has been handled: small marks, a few slight tears in the paper, a small piece of paper torn from the surface (outside the subject). Note: In 1972, Jane Birkin lent her naturally modern style to Ted Lapidus’s designs. This shantung dress exemplifies a more supple and relaxed elegance, perfectly suited to the style of the woman who was then establishing herself as a true fashion icon.
