Marcel WIBAULT (1904–1998) - Lot 315
Marcel WIBAULT (1904–1998) Dragoons, Drum, 1807 Oil on hardboard Signed and dated Inscription on the back: 29th Dragoons, trumpet 27 x 17 cm Note: A renowned painter and illustrator, Marcel Wibault follows in the tradition of 20th-century artists fascinated by the Napoleonic era. This composition depicts a trumpet player of the Empire—an emblematic figure of the regiments—rendered with precision in the details of his uniform and the character’s posture. The work reflects a keen interest in historical reenactment, in a style that is both descriptive and evocative—a hallmark of the artist. The small format enhances the intimate nature of the scene, reminiscent of a collectible military illustration.
