Marc STERLING (1897–1976) - Lot 323
Marc STERLING (1897–1976) Nude with Horses, circa 1970 Ink and oil pastel on paper Signed upper right 38 x 50 cm Note: A painter of Russian origin based in Paris, Marc Sterling (1897–1976) developed a figurative body of work characterized by expressive texture and a great freedom of line. In *Nude with Horses*, created around 1970, the human body, horses, and vegetation seem to blend into a single landscape, brought to life by the layering of ink and oil pastel. The graphic power of the lines and the tones of green, blue, and ochre lend the composition an atmosphere that is both wild and dreamlike.
