Jean CHEVOLLEAU (1924–1996) - Lot 339
Jean CHEVOLLEAU (1924–1996) Threshing Scene Oil on canvas Signed lower right, countersigned on the back 81 x 100 cm Note: A painter from the Vendée region associated with the Fontenay-le-Comte group, Jean Chevolleau (1924–1996) developed a figurative style deeply marked by color and the geometric abstraction of forms. In this Threshing Scene, agricultural labor becomes a play of rhythms and broad swaths of color: figures, machines, and landscape fragment into a luminous mosaic, straddling the line between figuration and abstraction.
