PROGRESSIVE SHIFTS IN PLEASURE - Lot 144
PROGRESSIVE SHIFTS IN PLEASURE Anicée Alvina and Olga Georges-Picot during the shooting of Alain Robbe-Grillet's film, 1974. 2 photos, one vintage silver print (annotated with audos) and one later print on RC paper (stamped and annotated on back). 17.3 x 21.4 cm & 18 x 24 cm. Note: Set of two photographs showing Anicée Alvina and Olga Georges-Picot during the shooting of Glissements progressifs du plaisir, a film directed by Alain Robbe-Grillet and released in 1974. A major figure in the French Nouveau Roman and experimental cinema, Alain Robbe-Grillet's work develops a universe of eroticism, mystery and labyrinthine narration, characteristic of his singular aesthetic. Anicée Alvina, revealed a few years earlier in Le Rempart des Béguines, plays an enigmatic heroine in a sophisticated, unsettling visual atmosphere. Period photographs and prints related to Robbe-Grillet's cinema are particularly sought-after by collectors of auteur and avant-garde cinema of the 1970s.
