PANIQUE A NEEDLE PARK - PANIC IN NEEDLE PARK - Lot 188
PANIQUE A NEEDLE PARK - PANIC IN NEEDLE PARK Drogue... film by Jerry Schatzberg, 1971. Photo, period silver print, stamped and annotated on back. 17.5 x 24.5 cm. Traces of handling (mostly visible only against the light), in particular a horny corner point. Note: Photograph depicting a drug-related scene from Jerry Schatzberg's 1971 film The Panic in Needle Park. Shot in a documentary style in the heart of working-class New York in the early 1970s, this social drama marked Al Pacino's film debut in one of his first major roles. Today, the film is considered a major work of New Hollywood for its raw realism and uncompromising look at marginality and drug addiction. The period promotional photographs, stamped with release notes, are sought-after testimonials to the independent, urban American cinema of the period.
