CATHERINE DENEUVE AND LUIS BUNUEL - Lot 301
CATHERINE DENEUVE AND LUIS BUNUEL On the set of "Belle de jour", 1966. Photo by Jean-Pierre Bonnotte, later RC print (1983), captioned (with photographer's credit and dates), stamps on back. 18 x 26 cm including white borders. Note: Photograph of Catherine Deneuve and Luis Buñuel during the filming of Belle de jour, made in 1966. Considered one of the masterpieces of French cinema and surrealist cinema, the film adapts the novel by Joseph Kessel and marks one of the most famous collaborations between Catherine Deneuve and Luis Buñuel. Winner of the Golden Lion at the 1967 Venice Film Festival, Belle de jour remains a major work of 1960s European cinema, combining visual elegance, social criticism and psychological ambiguity. Produced by Jean-Pierre Bonnotte, this later RC photograph from 1983 testifies to the enduring interest in the film and its iconic figures. The captions and stamps on the verso attest to its circulation in professional press and photographic publishing circuits. Note :
