RAYMOND DEPARDON - Lot 60
RAYMOND DEPARDON Photographer and filmmaker… Two documentary films: "1974, une partie de campagne" (released in 2002) and "Paris" (1998). 2 vintage posters (one of which is illustrated with a photo by David Burnett). 60 x 40 cm each. Some wear along the edges (including a small tear) and crease marks. Note: These two posters are dedicated to Raymond Depardon, a leading figure in documentary photography and cinéma vérité in France. As a photographer, reporter, and later filmmaker, Depardon has, since the 1960s, developed a deeply humanistic body of work that focuses on social, political, and regional realities. The films *1974, une partie de campagne*—a unique chronicle of Valéry Giscard d’Estaing’s presidential campaign—and *Paris* demonstrate his perspective on contemporary society, which is at once detached and empathetic. These posters illustrate the essential role Raymond Depardon plays in the history of documentary imagery, at the intersection of photography, journalism, and film.
