HENRI MICHAUX - Lot 61
HENRI MICHAUX Print, associated with the poet’s first artist’s book, titled *Les Meidosems*, 1948. Original lithograph (unsigned and unnumbered) on Lana watermarked paper, annotated on the reverse. 38 x 28 cm. Some signs of handling. Note: This lithograph is bound into *Les Meidosems*, a work published in 1948 and considered Henri Michaux’s first true artist’s book. A poet, writer, and artist, Michaux developed a wholly personal visual universe at that time, populated by imaginary creatures he called the “Meidosems.” Situated at the intersection of writing, drawing, and inner vision, these enigmatic forms reflect his constant exploration of the realms of the unconscious, movement, and metamorphosis. A singular figure in 20th-century literature and art, Henri Michaux profoundly transformed the relationship between text and image. This lithograph is a remarkable example of one of the foundational series of his graphic work.
