LUCIEN CLERGUE - Lot 65
LUCIEN CLERGUE Photographs… Brest Museum, 1969. Vintage poster, signed by the photographer, printed by Jossier - Morlaix. 58 x 33 cm. A small corner has been repaired. Note: This poster announces the exhibition dedicated to Lucien Clergue’s photographs at the Brest Museum in 1969. Signed by the artist, it attests to the growing institutional recognition then enjoyed by one of the most important French photographers of his generation. Since the 1950s, Clergue has developed a profoundly original body of work, marked by his attachment to the Mediterranean, natural landscapes, nudes, bullfighting, and folk traditions. Supported from the very beginning by Pablo Picasso and Jean Cocteau, he helped bring photography into France’s major cultural institutions. This poster serves as a testament to the dissemination of his work in the late 1960s, a period when his reputation was solidifying both in France and internationally.
