SAMUEL BECKETT - Lot 157
SAMUEL BECKETT At the BBC… 1965. Photo by Dimitri Kasterine, later print (1980s) on RC paper, captioned (label with photographer’s credit), stamped, and annotated on the back. 17.8 x 25.3 cm. Note: This photograph shows Samuel Beckett at the BBC in 1965. An Irish writer, playwright, and poet, Beckett is one of the major figures of 20th-century literature. The author of seminal works such as *Waiting for Godot*, *Endgame*, and *The Last Tape*, he profoundly transformed modern theater through his exploration of the absurd, language, and the human condition. Throughout his career, he maintained close ties with radio and television, media for which he created several original works. Taken by Dimitri Kasterine, this photograph captures this often lesser-known aspect of his artistic practice. This print is thus a fascinating document dedicated to one of the most influential writers of his time, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1969. Note:
