ORBES - Lot 165
ORBES Avant-garde magazine, with contributions by B. Cendrard, Picabia, T. Tzara, E. Satie, H. Arp, F. Léger, etc. 1932–33. Two vintage promotional posters announcing new issues. Approximately 36 x 27 cm each. Note: This set of two promotional posters, created in 1932–1933, is dedicated to *Orbes*, an avant-garde journal founded by the Belgian poet and publisher Franz Hellens. Published amid a period of intense artistic and intellectual ferment, this journal brought together contributions from numerous leading figures of the European avant-garde, including Blaise Cendrars, Francis Picabia, Tristan Tzara, Erik Satie, Hans Arp, and Fernand Léger. At the intersection of Dadaism, Surrealism, modern poetry, music, and the visual arts, *Orbes* serves as a valuable testament to the creative networks that animated the international cultural scene between the two world wars. These period advertising materials are of particular historical interest as they illustrate the dissemination and promotion of the major avant-garde journals that helped shape 20th-century artistic modernity.
