PIERRE MOLINIER - Lot 169
PIERRE MOLINIER International Surrealism Exhibition – 1959/60. 8 vintage postcards (erotic works, a landscape…). Approx. 14 x 9.5 cm each. Note: This set of eight postcards, published for the 1959–1960 International Surrealist Exhibition, is dedicated to the work of Pierre Molinier, a singular and radical figure in the Surrealist movement. A painter, photographer, and performance artist, Molinier developed a personal universe centered on eroticism, fetishism, the metamorphosis of the body, and the transgression of social conventions. Admired by André Breton, who saw him as one of the most daring artists of his generation, Molinier now occupies a major place in the history of Surrealism and 20th-century art. Featuring mainly erotic works, these postcards attest to the dissemination of his work to the public during one of the last major historical events of the Surrealist movement. They constitute an interesting documentary collection dedicated to an artist whose influence on contemporary art has continued to grow since the 1960s.
