AMADEO MODIGLIANI - Lot 173
AMADEO MODIGLIANI Female Models (Seated)… 1910s. 6 photos, vintage silver gelatin prints (1950s)—most on card stock and one mounted on cardboard—small inscription (number) on some white margins, annotated on some backs. 20.5 x 14 cm to 25 x 20.5 cm including white margins. One margin shows signs of handling. Note: This set of six photographs reproduces portraits and seated female models created by Amedeo Modigliani in the 1910s. A leading figure of the School of Paris, Modigliani developed a unique visual language characterized by the elegance of elongated silhouettes, stylized faces, and a constant pursuit of formal purity. His depictions of women—whether portraits or nudes—rank among the most iconic images of 20th-century modern art. Produced in the 1950s, these photographic prints reflect the growing interest in his work following his untimely death in 1920 and helped spread awareness of his compositions among collectors, publishers, and art historians. This collection thus constitutes a fascinating documentary record dedicated to one of the most famous artists of Parisian modernity. Note:
