YEHUDA NEIMAN - Lot 186
YEHUDA NEIMAN Bodies and Casts (Nudes)… 1960s. 4 photographs, period silver gelatin prints, annotated (including two autograph signatures by the photographer) on the reverse. 13 x 17.2 cm to 19.7 x 23 cm. Note: This set of four photographs from the 1960s is dedicated to Yehuda Neiman’s explorations of the human body and casting. Combining the nude with sculpted or cast forms, these images reflect an artistic approach that explores the relationships between physical presence, imprint, and representation. Through these compositions, the artist engages with the questions that permeated postwar art regarding the body as a material for plastic experimentation and a subject of aesthetic reflection. The prints, two of which bear the photographer’s handwritten signature on the reverse, hold particular documentary value for understanding this unusual body of work. Produced during a period marked by a renewal of photographic and sculptural practices, these photographs offer an evocative record of the artistic explorations centered on the human figure in the 1960s.
