BRIGITTE BARDOT AND SERGE GAINSBOURG - I - Lot 276
BRIGITTE BARDOT AND SERGE GAINSBOURG - I During the recording of a song… 1960s. Photograph, later print (1990s) on RC paper, unmarked on the back. 17.8 x 24 cm, including white borders. Note: This photograph depicts Brigitte Bardot and Serge Gainsbourg during a recording session in the 1960s, a period during which their artistic collaboration gave rise to several songs that have become iconic in French music. Their meeting marked one of the most famous episodes in French popular culture of the time. Gainsbourg went on to compose several major songs for Bardot, including *Harley Davidson*, *Bonnie and Clyde*, and the first version of *Je t’aime… moi non plus*, recorded in 1967. Bringing together two of the most influential figures of their generation, this image captures the creative effervescence that characterized the French music scene of the 1960s, at the intersection of music, cinema, and media culture. Although printed later for the press in the 1990s, this photograph retains its full iconographic significance by illustrating one of the most memorable artistic collaborations of the 20th-century French cultural landscape.
