BRIGITTE BARDOT AND ROGER VADIM - Lot 278
BRIGITTE BARDOT AND ROGER VADIM During the filming of the movie *Le Repos du guerrier*, 1962. Photograph, later print (1980s) on RC paper, captioned on the back. 23.7 x 17.8 cm, including white borders. Note: This photograph, taken during the filming of *Le Repos du guerrier* in 1962, features Brigitte Bardot and Roger Vadim, an iconic couple of postwar French cinema. Adapted from the novel by Christiane Rochefort and directed by Roger Vadim, the film marks an important milestone in Bardot’s career, in which she plays one of her most dramatic roles alongside Robert Hossein. Although their marriage had ended a few years earlier, Brigitte Bardot and Roger Vadim continued to maintain a close artistic relationship. Vadim remains one of the key architects of the actress’s international fame since the resounding success of *And God… Created Woman* in 1956, a film that helped revolutionize the conventions of depicting femininity in cinema. This photograph thus bears witness to the enduring collaboration between two major figures of French cinema in the 1950s and 1960s. Printed in the 1980s from a vintage photograph, this document retains particular significance for the history of French cinema and popular culture.
