Charles Henry CONTENCIN (1898–1955) - Lot 21
Charles Henry CONTENCIN (1898–1955) The White Lake and the Goldfinch Oil on canvas Signed lower right, titled on the back 46 x 55 cm Minor, old damage. Note: A painter passionate about Alpine landscapes, Charles-Henri Contencin joined the Society of Mountain Painters in 1929, before becoming its president in 1954. In this composition, the artist captures the silent majesty of Lac Blanc and the surrounding peaks, contrasting the mineral texture of the foreground with the brightness of the snow-capped summits. This site holds a special place in his body of work: Contencin notably exhibited a painting titled *Morning at Lac Blanc* at the 1932 Salon des Artistes Français.
