The actress, a major figure in the Hollywood star system, appears here in a dignified and refined pose, typical of her image built around mystery and aloofness. The evening gown, with its long, structured drape, as well as the minimalist set featuring geometric forms, reflect a staging directly inspired by the codes of modernism and the fashion photography of the era.
