Note: A set of eight photographs featuring major figures from French cinema and the performing arts from the postwar period through the 1980s. The prints alternate between intimate portraits, on-set photographs, and press photos featuring Michel Serrault, Jean Yanne, Mireille Darc, Gérard Depardieu, Michèle Mercier, and even American director Samuel Fuller during his first film shoot in France. The collection is rounded out by a photograph of Yannick Noah and Cecilia Rodhe, illustrating the major news agencies’ growing openness to figures from the worlds of sports and the media. Preserved with their original captions, stamps, and annotations—where present—these prints offer a representative overview of photojournalism focusing on French and international celebrities between the 1940s and 1980s.
