LES ETOILES DU MIDI Mountain film directed by Marcel Ichac with confirmed mountaineers (Lionel Terray, René Desmaison...); two scenes: a descent from a wounded man and the passage of an ice wall 1958. 2 photos, vintage silver prints, production stamped and annotated on the backs. 18 x 16 cm & 23.5 x 17.5 cm. Note: Set of two photographs depicting mountain scenes - descent from an injured man and crossing an ice wall - during the shooting of Les Étoiles du Midi, a film directed by Marcel Ichac and released in 1958. A great specialist in mountain and exploration cinema, Marcel Ichac called on a number of legendary French mountaineering figures, including Lionel Terray and René Desmaison. Shot in extreme conditions at high altitude, the film is a remarkable testament to mountaineering in the 1950s and to the realism of French mountain cinema. Production stills bearing period stamps and annotations are of particular documentary interest to collectors of adventure, mountaineering and mountain history films.
