ANDRE DUNOYER DE SEGONZAC - Photo by Giraudon - Lot 323
ANDRE DUNOYER DE SEGONZAC - Photo by Giraudon In his studio in Sceaux, 1940s. Period silver print, stamped by the photographer and annotated on the back. 21 x 25 cm, including white borders. Signs of handling on the white margins. Note: This photograph, taken by the Giraudon agency in the 1940s, shows André Dunoyer de Segonzac in his studio in Sceaux. One of the most important painters, printmakers, and illustrators of his generation, Dunoyer de Segonzac made his mark with a body of work deeply rooted in the observation of nature, landscape, the nude, and everyday life. His vigorous draftsmanship, combined with great freedom of execution, earned him a prominent place in French art of the first half of the 20th century. Portraits of artists in their studios offer a unique insight into their creative environment and their relationship to their work. This print is thus a valuable document on one of the most influential figures in the modern French figurative tradition.
