Note: Jules Supervielle (1884–1960), a Franco-Uruguayan poet, novelist, and playwright, occupies a unique place in 20th-century literature. His work, marked by great poetic sensitivity and an imagination nourished by dreamlike imagery, lies at the crossroads of Symbolism and Surrealism while retaining a highly personal voice.
The author of collections such as *Gravitations* (1925) and *La Fable du monde* (1938), he was recognized for his original contribution to French poetry. These photographs, dating from the 1950s, reflect the writer’s image toward the end of his career.
