LUCIEN CLERGUE
Vintage poster (pre-print), signed, inscribed, and dated (1980) by the photographer, printed in Saint-Pons. 53 x 35 cm. Corner tips show signs of handling.
Note: This “pre-print” poster by Lucien Clergue is a particularly interesting document on the process of producing and distributing photographic work. Devoid of final typographic elements, it highlights the image in all its visual power and offers a glimpse into the preparatory stages of creating an exhibition poster. Signed, inscribed, and dated 1980 by the photographer, it possesses a personal character that enhances its appeal to photography enthusiasts. A leading figure in 20th-century French photography, a close associate of Pablo Picasso, and co-founder of the Rencontres d’Arles, Lucien Clergue built a body of work deeply influenced by Mediterranean light, natural landscapes, and the pursuit of poetic imagery. This poster offers a unique glimpse into his artistic world and his international career.
