CATHERINE JOURDAN AND JARMILA KOLENOCOVA - Lot 28
CATHERINE JOURDAN AND JARMILA KOLENOCOVA Scene from Alain Robbe-Grillet’s film “L’Eden et après,” 1970. Photograph, vintage color print, label on the image, stamps and annotation on the back. 23.7 x 29.5 cm. Note Directed in 1970 by Alain Robbe-Grillet, a leading figure of the Nouveau Roman movement, *L’Éden et après* is a Franco-Czechoslovak experimental film that deliberately blurs the boundaries between reality, dreams, and hallucinations. Catherine Jourdan plays Violette, a member of a group of students who gather at a café called L’Éden to engage in strange theatrical games. The arrival of a stranger draws the young woman into a series of enigmatic events, from Czechoslovakia to the landscapes of Djerba. Jarmila Koleničová plays Sona. Constructed according to a principle inspired by Arnold Schoenberg’s twelve-tone technique, the film emphasizes repetition, variation, and visual associations rather than a traditional narrative. The carefully composed colors and geometric sets play a key role in this unique cinematic experience. Staple holes in the corners.
