STEVE McQUEEN AND FAYE DUNAWAY - Lot 35
STEVE McQUEEN AND FAYE DUNAWAY During the filming of Norman Jewison’s movie “The Thomas Crown Affair,” 1968. Photo, vintage silver print, blank back. 25.8 x 19.8 cm. Note: Directed by Norman Jewison in 1968, *The Thomas Crown Affair* stars Steve McQueen as Thomas Crown, a wealthy Boston businessman who orchestrates a spectacular bank heist to relieve his boredom and experience the thrill of risk. Faye Dunaway plays Vicki Anderson, an investigator hired by the insurance company to track down the mastermind behind the heist. Convinced of Crown’s guilt, she engages him in a game of seduction and defiance, the most iconic moment of which is the famous chess match. The elegance of the two actors, the refined costumes, and the innovative use of split-screen make the film a landmark of sophisticated cinema from the late 1960s. The song “The Windmills of Your Mind,” composed by Michel Legrand with lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman, won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
