ROMY SCHNEIDER AND JACQUES DUTRONC - Lot 90
ROMY SCHNEIDER AND JACQUES DUTRONC During the filming of Andrzej Żuławski’s movie “L’Important c’est d’aimer,” 1975. Photograph, vintage silver gelatin print on card stock, annotated on the back. 15.5 x 23.4 cm. Note: In *L’Important c’est d’aimer*, directed by Andrzej Żuławski, Romy Schneider plays Nadine Chevalier, a fragile actress forced to accept degrading roles to make ends meet. Jacques Dutronc plays her husband, Jacques, a whimsical and vulnerable collector to whom she remains attached despite the arrival of photographer Servais Mont, played by Fabio Testi. Adapted from Christopher Frank’s novel *La Nuit américaine*, this passionate drama features characters torn between love, sacrifice, and dependence. The film showcases Jacques Dutronc in a dramatic role and offers Romy Schneider one of her most intense performances, which earned her the very first César Award for Best Actress in 1976.
