LAUREN BACALL AND HUMPHREY BOGART - Lot 154
LAUREN BACALL AND HUMPHREY BOGART "Dark Passage" (Les Passagers de la nuit), a film noir by Delmer Daves, 1947. Vintage promotional brochure (cover by René Ravo), eight pages illustrated with stills from the film, movie posters, press photos, and more… Note: The third of four films starring Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart, *Dark Passage* tells the story of Vincent Parry, a man wrongfully convicted of his wife’s murder. After escaping from San Quentin Prison, he receives help from Irene Jansen, a young artist convinced of his innocence. To evade capture, Parry undergoes facial reconstruction surgery. In the opening sequences, Delmer Daves employs a subjective camera angle: the viewer sees the action through the eyes of the fugitive, whose face does not appear until after the operation. Adapted from the novel by David Goodis and filmed primarily on the streets of San Francisco, the film is one of the most iconic collaborations between Bogart and Bacall. 31.5 x 23.5 cm.
