TOM AND JERRY - Lot 164
TOM AND JERRY Animated film, cartoon, 1960s. Photograph, silver print on card stock, enhanced with vintage color, unmarked on the back. Markings on one edge. Note: Jean-Paul Belmondo plays Michel Poiccard, a petty criminal fascinated by Humphrey Bogart, who is hunted by the police after killing a motorcyclist. Having taken refuge in Paris, he meets Patricia Franchini, a young American student played by Jean Seberg, who sells the New York Herald Tribune on the Champs-Élysées. Their romantic relationship unfolds amid an atmosphere of uncertainty and betrayal. Jean-Luc Godard’s debut feature film, *Breathless*, profoundly revolutionized cinematic language through its use of natural settings, its handheld camera, its jump cuts, and its famous continuity errors. Filmed in 1959 and released in 1960, it became one of the defining films of the French New Wave.
