JEAN COCTEAU AND ÉDOUARD DERMIT - Lot 251
JEAN COCTEAU AND ÉDOUARD DERMIT During the filming of Jean Cocteau’s movie *Le Testament d’Orphée*, shot in 1959 and released in 1960. Photo, vintage silver print, stamped and captioned on the back. 18 x 13 cm. Note: Some dust on the print. Note: In *Le Testament d’Orphée*, Jean Cocteau plays himself as the Poet, a traveler lost in time who journeys through a world populated by mythological figures and friendly apparitions. Édouard Dermit reprises the role of Cégeste, who first appeared in *Orphée* in 1950, and becomes his guide on this journey through creation, death, and resurrection. Cocteau’s final film, this work concludes the Orphic trilogy that began with *Le Sang d’un poète*. Picasso, Jean Marais, Maria Casarès, Jean-Pierre Léaud, and Yul Brynner also appear in the film.
