JEAN-PIERRE LEAUD AND FRANÇOISE LEBRUN - Lot 256
JEAN-PIERRE LEAUD AND FRANÇOISE LEBRUN Scene from Jean Eustache's film "La Maman et la putain," 1973. Photograph, vintage silver print, annotated on the back. 13 x 18.5 cm. Note: Jean-Pierre Léaud plays Alexandre, a young, idle, and talkative Parisian who lives with Marie, played by Bernadette Lafont. His encounter with Veronika, a nurse played by Françoise Lebrun, sets in motion a love triangle where discussions of sexual freedom clash with jealousy, loneliness, and the desire for commitment. Through lengthy dialogues and a deliberately minimalist style, Jean Eustache paints an intimate portrait of a disillusioned generation in the wake of May ’68. Presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 1973, this epic film—running over three hours—won the Grand Prix there. Note:
