JANE MARCH AND TONY KA FAI LEUNG - Lot 259
JANE MARCH AND TONY KA FAI LEUNG Scenes from Jean-Jacques Annaud’s film *The Lover*, based on the novel by Marguerite Duras, 1992. 2 photos by Benoit Barbier, vintage RC prints, stamped by the photographer and annotated on the backs. 16 x 24 cm each, including white borders. Note: Jane March plays a French teenager from a poor family, while Tony Leung Ka-fai portrays the wealthy Chinese heir she meets while crossing the Mekong River. In colonial Indochina, their relationship is challenged by differences in age, social background, and origin, as well as by the authority of their respective families. Jean-Jacques Annaud adapts Marguerite Duras’s largely autobiographical novel, emphasizing the sensuality of the imagery and the recreation of Saigon and Cholon. Produced in 1991, the film was released in France in January 1992. The narrator’s voice is that of Jeanne Moreau. Note:
