JACQUELINE AND PABLO PICASSO - Lot 89
JACQUELINE AND PABLO PICASSO Villa Notre-Dame-de-Vie in Mougins, 1968. Photo by Roberto Otero, later print (1980s) on vintage card stock, stamped by the photographer and annotated on the back. 20 x 26.3 cm. Note: This photograph, taken by Roberto Otero in 1968, shows Pablo Picasso and Jacqueline Roque at their property, Notre-Dame-de-Vie in Mougins—the artist’s final residence and the place where he created his last masterpieces. Close to the painter during the final years of his life, Roberto Otero compiled an exceptional photographic record of Picasso’s daily life, his work environment, and his family life. Jacqueline, Picasso’s wife and muse since the 1950s, occupied a central place in his personal and artistic world at that time, appearing in numerous works from this period. This image offers a unique glimpse of the couple in the peaceful setting of Mougins, where Picasso continued his artistic explorations with remarkable energy until his death in 1973. It is a valuable record of the final years of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.
