CABARET - MUSIC HALL - BIZARRE, puppet show (skeletons), mag - Lot 107
CABARET - MUSIC HALL - BIZARRE, puppet show (skeletons), magic...1940s 2 photos (overprints, photomontages) Prints on vintage cartoline paper, credits (including photographer Fradel-Nogrady) in one image Dimensions: 18 x 24 cm & 24 x 30 cm. Slight soiling, paper slightly warped on one of the photos, slight folds. Note: Set of photographs devoted to a cabaret and music-hall show with fantastic overtones, combining skeleton puppets, magic effects and unusual staging, dating from the 1940s. The images, created using overprints and photomontage processes, contribute to the visual aesthetics of spectacle and illusion typical of cabaret entertainment of the period. One of them is credited to the photographer Fradel-Nogrady, active in show and press photography. These prints testify to the sometimes strange and experimental visual world of music hall and cabaret shows in the mid-20ᵉ century, where theater, illusionism and scenic effects were intertwined.
