THE 4'Z' ARTS BALL - Lot 160
THE 4'Z' ARTS BALL The Moon Festival Among the Bamilekes, 1953. Vintage poster, designed by Jacques Ramondot and André Plisson, photomechanical print (Dorel process, Paris). 120 x 80 cm. Folded poster; shows signs of handling, particularly small tears (occasionally with slight missing sections), plus discoloration at the fold lines and edges; a trace of peeled-off paper near the date. Note: This poster captures the festive and exotic spirit of the famous Bal des Quat'Z'Arts, an iconic event in Parisian artistic life. The 1953 edition, dedicated to “The Moon Festival among the Bamilekés,” embodies the spectacular and theatrical aesthetic characteristic of these events, blending ethnographic references, colonial imagery, and graphic design. Designed by Jacques Ramondot and André Plisson, it offers an interesting glimpse into event posters of the 1950s and the history of major Parisian student and artistic festivals.
