RITA HAYWORTH AND GLENN FORD - Lot 112
RITA HAYWORTH AND GLENN FORD During the filming of Charles Vidor's movie "Gilda," 1946. Photo, vintage silver gelatin print, stamped and annotated on the back. 21.7 x 16.3 cm including edges. Some signs of handling, notably a tear in one corner. Note: In *Gilda*, Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford form one of the most iconic couples in Hollywood film noir. The story takes place in Buenos Aires, where Johnny Farrell, a professional gambler played by Ford, becomes the right-hand man of a casino owner. He discovers that the casino owner’s new wife, Gilda, is a woman he once loved. Their attraction, concealed behind violent hostility, fuels a love triangle dominated by jealousy and desire. The role definitively established Rita Hayworth as the embodiment of Hollywood glamour, thanks in particular to her performance of “Put the Blame on Mame”—sung on screen by the actress but dubbed by Anita Ellis—and to the costumes designed by Jean Louis.
