LAUREN BACALL AND HUMPHREY BOGART - Lot 125
LAUREN BACALL AND HUMPHREY BOGART During the filming of John Huston’s movie “Key Largo,” 1948. Photo, later silver print (1960s), annotated on the back. 25.3 x 20.5 cm, including white borders. Note: *Key Largo* marks the fourth and final on-screen collaboration between Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart, following *To Have and Have Not*, *The Big Sleep*, and *Dark Passage*. Married since 1945, they play Nora Temple and Frank McCloud in this film. A disillusioned former officer, Frank travels to a hotel in the Florida Keys to meet the widow and father of a soldier who died under his command. He discovers that the hotel is occupied by Johnny Rocco, a gangster played by Edward G. Robinson, and his men. The arrival of a hurricane turns the isolated hotel into a closed-off environment, forcing Frank to find the courage to confront Rocco. Adapted by John Huston and Richard Brooks from a play by Maxwell Anderson, the film earned Claire Trevor the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
